Maundy Thursday

The Lord's Supper

Sentence
'I give you a new commandment,' says the Lord, 'that you love one another. Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another.' John 13:34

Collects
God our Father, we are gathered here to share in the supper which your Son left to his church to reveal his love. He gave it to us when he was about to die and commanded us to celebrate it in remembrance of him. We pray that sharing this sacrament we may find the fulness of love and life. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen. AAPB

Holy God, source of love, on the night of his betrayal Jesus gave his disciples a new commandment, to love one another as he loved them: write this commandment in our hearts, and give us the will to serve others in the same way as he was the servant of all, who gave his life and died for us, yet is alive and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. APBA
