1st Sunday in Lent C

Worship God. Serve only him

Sentence
Worship the Lord your God, and serve only him. Luke 4:8

Collects
Lord Jesus Christ, for our sake you fasted forty days and forty nights: give us grace to use such abstinence that, our flesh being subdued to the spirit, we may always obey your will in righteousness and true holiness, to your honour and glory; for you live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, one God, for evermore. Amen. BCP. Lent 1

Let us pray [that we may grow in the self-sacrificing love of Christ.]
Father, help us to understand the meaning of your Son's death and resurrection, and teach us to reflect it in our lives. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. AAPB

O saving God, who led your people through the wilderness and brought them to the promised land: so guide us that, following our Saviour, we may walk through the wilderness of this world and be brought to the glory of the world which is to come; ; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. APBA
