Sunday: Ordinary 30A, Proper 25A

The prayer of the humble

Sentence
You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the great and first commandment. And a second is like it: you shall love your neighbour as yourself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. Matthew 22:37-40.

Collects
Almighty and eternal God, grant that we may grow in faith, hope, and love; and that we may obtain what you promised, make us love what you command; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. BCP. Trinity 14

Let us pray [for the strength to do God's will]
Almighty and ever-living God, strengthen our faith, hope and love. May we do with loving hearts what you ask of us and enter more fully the life you promise. We ask this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen. AAPB

O God, whose Son has taught us that love is the fulfilment of your law: stir up within us the fire of your Holy Spirit and pour into our hearts your greatest gift of love, so that we my love you with our whole being, and our neighbours as ourselves; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen. APBA
